Analysis Services IO

The SSAS IO screen displays IO information for each disk that SSAS uses. Disks not utilized by SSAS are ignored.

The IO usage is split across 2 tabs - Logical and Physical drives:

SSAS disk usage

The logical drives view has the benefit of having Disk Free Space where as physical drive information does not. It is shown as a percentage and also Mb value next to the drive name.
The following are the properties shown for each drive (read and write values where appropriate):
  • - Ios sec
  • - Avg IO Latency Ms
  • - Bytes Per Sec
  • - Avg Bytes Per IO
  • - % Disk Time
  • - Disk Queue Length

IO Bottlenecks can be identified here by observing very high disk queue length numbers and also disk speed assesments can be made by using Bytes Sec & Latency figues.
